    IP/Patent Administrator

    About the role
    The IP/Patent Administrator is responsible for directly supporting the IP Strategy and Patent Portfolio Creation of Nexperia. Working together with other members of the Nexperia IP/Legal team is a key to a successful performance.
    This position is based in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
    What you will do
    IP Administration work
    • Monitor the European Patent Office (EPO) mailbox: perform some of the actions, e.g. claims translations in DE and FR, request official drawings, etc., and communicate other actions to Senior Director IP and Patent Attorneys
    • Help the submission of the new patent application filings and office actions to EPO and make a corresponding update in IPFolio (the IP management tool used in Nexperia for Invention Disclosures, Patents and Trade Secrets records) - together with Senior Director IP and Patent Attorneys ensuring ‘zero’ errors for all EPO actions
    • Participate in the Patent Review Committee (PRC) meetings and help with the meeting minutes and entering the results into IPFolio
    • Create monthly overviews of filed patent applications vs. yearly filing targets and sharing these overviews with the Legal team and PRC members (i.e. R&D managers), and also Nexperia EMT team members
    • Help Nexperia Inventors and answer any questions related to the ID Submission process - together with Senior Director IP and Patent Attorneys own the Invention Disclosures (ID) Submission process
    • Own the process for the Inventor Awards payments and observes and manages the Inventor Awards milestones (5, 10 and 25 granted patents)
    • Be the first contact for any IP related questions when Senior Director IP and Patent Attorneys are not available (e.g. on a holiday)
    • Continuously observe the IP processes and the way of working and, where possible, propose actions that can contribute the improvement of the quality of the Patent Portfolio, the efficiency, costs savings, etc.
    IP Strategy
    • Together with Senior Director IP and Patent Attorneys contribute the development of the IP/Patents creation strategy to support the needs of each business group within assigned budget
    • Help with the IP trainings for each R&D team, as required
    Other Responsibilities
    • Organize, structure, keep up to date Legal/IP support processes;
    • Own/update Legal/IP website
    • Own templates; ensures consistency and updates
    • Answer questions for various departments regarding Legal/IP department policies and procedures;
    What you will need
    • Bachelor's degree in Law studies
    • Preferably experience in High Tech company
    • Experience in patent and patent applications work (e.g. familiar with European Patent Office related matters)
    • Detailed knowledge in using IP Management System, preferably IPfolio is an advantage
    • Strong communication skills in English and Dutch, both speaking and in writing;
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet applications
    • Research, administrative, planning and organizational talent
    • Experience of semiconductor devices and manufacturing processes
    • Proficiency in standard office environment software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
    • Ability to apply independent, critical thinking but also to follow instructions and take direction
    • Attention to detail (High accuracy and detailed mindset) and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
    • Self-initiative and ability to work with the minimum of direction under pressure

    About the team
    The IP/Patent Administrator is a member of the Legal team of Nexperia and reports to the Global Head of IP. The Legal team is partly located at the HQ in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and partly in China and Hong Kong. The team consists of 9 professionals in total that closely cooperate with the business. The IP/Patent Administrator is an essential IP expert in the team and must be a team player that can effectively perform patent related tasks that are directly related to the IP Strategy of Nexperia. Close collaboration with Nexperia Patent Attorneys is required.
