Internship Computer Vision in Wastewater Treatment

Are you a Bachelor or a Master student interested in an internship that directly impacts society and helps improve our living environment? Then we are looking for you!

What you will do as a Computer Vision Intern

Almost all Nereda® installations in the world are remotely supported by our team of process specialists. For this purpose, we use several tools for data analysis and automation. Among other data, we receive thousands of pictures from these installations per day. In a fraction of the occasions, these images can indicate potential performance issues, which are picked up by our experts.

Your challenge will be to produce a model that, for a range of plants, replicates the eye of an expert by flagging these irregularities in the images when they occur . We will help you source the training set. Depending on your progress and interest, you will also be able to explore correlations between the output of your model and parameters measured on site by sensors – there is plenty of data to work with.

    Where you will work

At Royal HaskoningDHV Digital we are connecting the digital with the physical world at an ever-faster pace. In collaboration with our clients and partners, we use the latest digital technologies to translate data into insights and prospects. In this way we structurally support our clients in taking the next step in the continuous optimization and sustainability of their business operations. Our motto, also in the inevitable Digital Transformation: "Let's Enhance Society Together!"

The Business Unit Water Technology Products delivers the Nereda® wastewater treatment technology – a leading solution in terms of sustainability and cost-effectiveness – all over the world. The Netherlands-based team is located at our headquarters in Amersfoort, a nice location with an open office space and an international culture. You will also be able to partially work from home.

    What you bring

Are you a student at a Bachelor or Master level in a data-related field, enthusiastic about image processing and deep learning and you have a basic understanding of these concepts? We are looking for a driven individual who likes to do innovative work and can function independently! Additionally, you recognise yourself from the following:

    • Confident in programming (Python preferred)
    • A good command of English (verbal and written)
    • Available for a period from 6 to 9 months in duration, starting 1 September 2022
    • Registered at an university in the Netherlands for the whole duration of the internship
