Internal Auditor (Programme / MEAL profile)
Your challenge The internal auditor contributes to being in control and improving quality in the individual units
(countries, Apeldoorn office) as well as in the organization as a whole. The internal auditor is part of the
Audits are used to test the internal organization and implementation of projects in country programs.
The audits should (indirectly) lead to the following results:
judgement on the in control status of country programmes, particularly risk management
- and quality assurance;
assessing how the country program follows up on audit findings and management letters.

Your main tasks and responsibilities
A. Testing the "in control" status of a country programme. Periodically, country programmes are audited to determine whether they are in control. To this end, the following activities are performed:
under the final responsibility of the Quality Manager, (helping to) draw up the annual plan for the country audits, divided into desktop and country audits;
planning, executing and reporting on the results of desktop audits;
independently preparing a visit to a program country for the purpose of an audit through desk research using ZOA Manager, discussions with the ZOA HQ project controller and (sector) specialists, preparing an audit Terms of Reference after coordination with the country;
forming an audit team and leading the team during the implementation of the audit in the programme country;
report to countries, management, quality manager, country director and support team on findings of audit work performed;
instruct internal and external colleagues and coordinate their contributions to internal audits;
set up and maintain the frameworks and tools in the field of internal audits.
B Specific tasks
perform specifically agreed upon tasks, such as specific audits, fraud investigations, program evaluations, consulting assignments, etc. at the request of the CEO, country directors, department heads or the audit committee (consisting of 2 members of the Supervisory Board, the CEO and the Finance Director;
provide evidence-based reporting on the findings of audit work performed to CEO, country directors, department heads, audit committee and external auditor(s).
C Learning and improvement
translating the insights gained into proposals for improving risk management and quality improvement. While giving workshop and training sessions at IMT meetings and ZIC trainings, explanations are given on audit reports and other research reports.
Your profile Identity the candidate is expected to fully support the vision, mission and Christian values of ZOA.
Knowledge and experience
master's degree in development studies or a related field of study;
at least 3 years' experience with and knowledge of monitoring and evaluating relief and reconstruction projects and reviewing and validating project and support processes.
Complementary knowledge and experience of internal auditors
periodic (country) audits are conducted by testing the countries on the programmatic and management implementation of its programmes. Within the audit team, the internal auditor with a programmatic / MEAL profile works closely with the internal auditor with a financial profile.
Within the audit team, therefore, both the programmatic and the management side are assured.
Skills and attitude
planning and organising;
excellent command of the English language (oral and written), with good command of French or Spanish being a bonus;

regular travel to a ZOA program country is part of the job.
