Within our Spectrum technology development team we are looking for an enthusiastic and capable team lead to join us in the development, implementation and delivery of large-scale edge & cloud-based data management, processing, and visualization solutions. The primary client is our Rail service line, and our solutions are being adapted by other service lines such as Road and Airborne.
As a Team Lead in R&D you have a key role in developing and delivering the innovative solutions for our customers. You are responsible for development and delivery of new capabilities in the team but also managing all the other team aspects on a day-to-day basis;
Driving the continuous improvement process from a software development, team culture, personal development perspective is key to drive our growth. In this role, you work closely with Product owners, innovation managers and agile product owners;
You are driving the recruitment of new team members as well as providing growth to existing team members;
Your main challenges and responsibilities will be t o guide your team through continues improvement, guide them in this journey to learn together, grow as individuals and enjoy the effect of increased productivity. You are accountable for the team’s progress and you actively contribute to development; you are writing code and model solutions.
About the stack and tools
our systems are currently built with:
C# (including ASP.NET/ASP.Core)
Relational DBs e.g. PostgreSQL/MySQL, including deploying such DBs using AWS RDS and AWS Aurora Serverless
DB caching mechanisms such as Redis/AWS ElastiCache
A range of AWS technologies including AWS Batch, Lambda, Step, ECS, EC2, S3, ECR, API Gateway, and Cloudfront
Graph-based data systems e.g. AWS Neptune and similar
Code managed in Git (Gitlab/Github/Bitbucket)
<lower priority - relates to FibreOptics> Spring Boot
Future technologies could include:
Your track record
You have a MSc in Computer Science or equivalent and 7+ years of industry experience;
You have strong programming skills in at least one object-oriented language; and you have an understanding of scalability, performance, and reliability problematics;
You are experienced with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks and are able to do code reviews;
And you are available for at least 32 hours a week.
