You will work in one of our US or. European locations with our global McKinsey Digital "DnA" Communications team, working closely with Leap's global practice management team.
You will be a strategic thought partner for the global Leap by McKinsey leadership team, advising them and the wider practice on Leap’s global go-to-market strategy including: media relations, brand-building, publishing, content marketing, events, and risk. Leap works with established organizations to imagine, build, and scale new businesses—and develop the capabilities needed to do it again and again.
You’ll be part of a fast-growing practice working with high-energy entrepreneurs with a passion for building new businesses. Leap represents a global community of inventors, builders, and entrepreneurs in the Firm and one of the core capability areas in the Firm.
You will work in close collaboration with a range of colleagues, including the people and recruiting functions, branding, publishing, media relations, social media, analyst relations, and risk/legal. You will also have access to external agency resources including brand, media relations, editorial, and event production, etc. .
You will report directly to the Global Director of Communications for McKinsey Digital “DnA”.
What You'll Do
Using creative and proactive approaches, you will inspire, educate, and engage through events, storytelling, press, social media, and other cross-team initiatives to build the brand of Leap by McKinsey.
You will lead the communications and marketing strategy, development, management, and execution across channels to engage external and internal audiences.
You will be responsible for telling creative stories externally and internally about Leap’s unique impact. Whether you are briefing the press on technology trends or explaining how corporate innovation can help to combat climate change, you will be at the epicenter of our communications work.
You will build and execute large-scale campaigns with high reach and visibility, and co-develop communications plans with our regional communications colleagues in local offices. You will work directly with journalists, manage and liaise with agency partners, create new partnerships, and media relations. In this role, you will also identify senior-level spokespeople, and support them on external activities including media interviews, social media, speeches, analyst briefings and content creation.
You will drive and execute Leap’s social media strategy, managing and constantly innovating across our storytelling around our business building work and impact. In addition, you will drive content marketing, including website redesign, media relations and analyst relations.
You will create an innovative, highly impactful internal engagement and community building program across channels to bring Leap’s expertise to the broader firm. You will also shape and execute a bold external community engagement program to connect, engage and inspire the entrepreneurial and technology communities external to our firm.
10+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a related field
Experience counseling senior executives on communications and reputational matters
Proven ability to lead teams and rally both direct reports and peers around a common goal
Excellent project management skills - both a planner and a "doer"
Hands-on experience dealing with reporters, producers, and other members of the media
Well-organized and attentive to detail, adept at managing projects large and small
Collaborative and able to work in teams as part of a large, complex and decentralized organization
An understanding of management consulting and broader business topics
Excellent oral and written communications skills, with a demonstrated record of writing communications materials, including and especially narratives, talking points, and materials for press
