    Financial Controller EMEA

    Location: Hoofddorp, The Netherlands (Hybrid or Remote)

    Position Summary:

    As Financial Controller you will take full ownership over the financial accounting of multiple territories within the EMEA region. This role is part of Bentley’s growing International Finance Team. You will report into the Senior Finance Manager EMEA & LA.

    You will be responsible for overseeing the application of Bentley’s accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP and local GAAP of the respective territories. For local GAAP you will be supported by external service organizations.

    The nature of this role will require developing a deep understanding of Bentley’s business and local rules & regulations. The successful candidate is an ambitious person and team player alike, has a solid technical accounting background, experience in an international context, is experienced with control requirements of publicly traded companies, has deep understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, brings strong interpersonal and communication skills and will enjoy working in the multicultural environment of a global tech leader.

    Your Day-to-Day:

    • Executing Bentley group and statutory financial reporting closing and ensure compliance with group (US GAAP) and statutory accounting policies.
    • Perform/oversee monthly financial and accounting analysis.
    • Review monthly payroll runs.
    • Approve local invoices and payments.
    • Ensure compliance with control requirements of publicly traded companies.
    • Direct contact with service providers and auditors in the various territories.
    • Closely work together with the Senior Finance Manager, other international controllers, Tax/Legal/Accounts Payable/Treasury department, head office in Exton (USA) and the international accounting team.
    • Preparing the annual statutory accounts for your respective territories.
    • Review and complete timely submission of local regulatory requirements, including VAT.
    • Play a key role in the support for the stakeholders of your territory.
    • Assisting with acquisitions (due diligence and post-closing integration).

    What You Bring to The Team:

    • University or higher education degree in business accounting/controlling or Economics.
    • Chartered Accountant is a plus.
    • A minimum of 5 years-experience in a similar role related to accounting, reporting or audit.
    • A background in the software industry, a finance shared service center and/ or a
      US GAAP International company is an advantage.
    • Thorough understanding of international accounting and reporting requirements (US GAAP and IFRS).
    • Thorough understanding of financial control requirements, such as SOX 404 requirements in the US.
    • Experience in cooperation with teams in a multicultural environment.
    • Can-do, role-up-your-sleeves attitude.
    • Change agent who consistently challenges the status quo and drives improvements to processes, controls and systems.
    • Excellent documentation and communication skills; fluent in English, written and verbal. Knowledge of other languages is preferred, but not required.
    • Ability to work with tight deadlines.
    • SAP knowledge preferred, but not required
