    Financial Accountant - Europe

    The Financial accountant is responsible for supporting the Regional Controller in the monthly Financial close process, ensuring oversight / control on both the P&L and Balance sheet, and analyzing and explaining material variances.

    The candidate will be required to work closely with the outsourced shared service partner to ensure that transactions in the ERP are recorded both accurately and timely. In addition the candidate will also be required to provide statutory audit support to external auditors for the IMDC legal entities operating in UK, Germany, and Netherlands.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Responsible for supporting the Europe Controller in the monthly close process. Close should be on time, without material errors while ensuring adherence to the the Global close calendar.
    • Ensure oversight and control on the cost lines in the P&L, variances are analysed and reported to the FP&A team.
    • Work closely with A2C teams to ensure accurate delivery of Revenue for the month.
    • Work closely with outsourced shared services partners to ensure timely and accurate delivery of accounting activities, identify issues or process gaps, ensure resolution, and root cause analysis.
    • Ensure Balance sheet reconciliations prepared by outsourced shared services partners are reviewed on a monthly basis. Participate in balance sheet reviews and drive clean-up efforts on all accounts with focus on high-risk balance sheet account reconciliations.
    • Ensure adherence to P2P Global process by working closely with the business, Finance Shared Services, P2P Leads, and Subject Matter Experts (SME)
    • Ensure intercompany balances are confirmed, reconciled, settled on a timely basis and assist in resolving out-of-balance issues.
    • Responsible for the coordination, preparation of any monthly, quarterly financial reporting packs including any Local GAAP to US GAAP adjustments.
    • Provide statutory audit support to external auditors, including supporting the external audit for the US GAAP audit of the cluster countries.
    • Provide support to investigate and resolve accounting issues including the escalations of issues on the Quarterly Issues Meeting (QIM) and Disclosure Committee.
    • Ensure compliance with Iron Mountain group accounting policies, US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate in Accounting or similar qualification; with at least 5 years of related work experience
    • Professional accounting qualification;

    Skills (including languages):

    • Managing a General Ledger close for a large multinational corporation
    • Exposure to Oracle ERP
    • Good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS
    • Good understanding of Taxation (particularly VAT)
    • Exposure to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley)
    • Experience implementing/improving financial processes
    • Ability to build relationships and experience working within a matrix organisation
    • Proactive self-starter with proven problem solving skill set
    • Experience of working in a shared service environment
    • Excellent communicator with team building skills
    • Independent, proactive and inspires to challenge the status quo
    • Presence of character to command respect and build working relationships at all levels
