This is what you will be doing As Director Corporate Strategy & Business Development, you will assist in the development, analysis, execution and communication of strategic initiatives associated with driving our enterprise corporate strategy, our omnichannel transformation strategy, our overall portfolio strategy and key functional strategies both internally and externally. With your experience in corporate strategy, omnichannel and digital transformation as well as business development, you ensure that Ahold Delhaize continues to be at the forefront of growth across its international presence and portfolio of Great Local Brands.
The role largely boils down to a mix of developing enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, partnering with the M&A team on strategic due diligences, driving the plans around key strategic enablers like organizational design and strategic and financial planning. You will lead critical enterprise strategy projects and keep track of trends and commercial developments that could impact our business. Furthermore, you will develop strategies and new business opportunities that will drive growth in this increasingly digital-first world. Lastly you will link these strategic priorities to our financial plan and ensure integration across all of our brands, regions and functions.

Developing the corporate strategy of Ahold Delhaize with a creative and quantitative mindset in order to grow our omnichannel sales and profitability.
Looking for ways to accelerate critical strategic capabilities and subsequently determine the feasibility and priority of the build/buy/partner options.
Ensuring we deliver critical corporate strategy and business development projects on-time and without error. You will help oversee the development of corporate strategy and business development initiatives across the team.
Making sure we continue to stay at the forefront of using technology as a competitive advantage for our business.
Collaborating closely with multiple functional & regional teams (Finance, Investor Relations and Global Communications) to deliver enterprise-wide projects
Leading on strategic due diligences and working closely with the M&A team to drive decision-making for key stakeholders
Leaning-in on the corporate strategy planning cycle. You help manage the cycle across all stakeholders. You leverage best practice strategy content across the organization and ensure that topics in business unit plans show up clearly and consistently across all levels of the organization (region, brand, functional and corporate levels).
Your new workplace and colleagues You will find your new workplace at our vibrant head office, right next to the Zaandam station - on the 8th floor within the strategy department, to be precise. In this role you report to VP and Global Head of Strategy, Digital Strategy and Business Development. You will work with stakeholders such as the Executive Committee members, functional, regional and brand senior executives and key associates. You need to navigate through a complex organization that comprehends multiple seniority levels, countries, languages and cultures. For this reason you need advanced diplomatic skills and the ability to communicate at an executive level.

A gross annual salary of €90.000 - €110.000 plus attractive bonuses and a first-rate pension plan with a personal contribution of just 6.2%

And specifically for this vacancy of Director of Strategy and Business Development you are results-oriented and assertive. You complete this with:
A Master’s degree. An MBA is considered a plus, not a requirement.
At least 8 years of work experience developing data-driven growth strategies for retail, consumer products or technology companies. Preferably you’ve worked at a top-tier strategy consulting firm.
Experience working in or consulting for CPG, retail and/or technology in a strategy, business development or business operations role.
Proven experience driving successful project management. A clear track record of successful delivery of company-critical projects, complex stakeholder management and proven business impact.
Experience with managing business development initiatives, such as multi-company strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions.
The ability to make quantitative analyses and financial models in Excel.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, including a strong aptitude for structuring complex problems and presenting well-considered solutions. You can cater your analysis and thinking to the personality of executive leaders, shifting across different communication mediums as needed.
Strong leadership skills and executive presence, combined with a high comfort with ambiguity, leading from the side, corporate diplomacy and stakeholder management.
