The electrical power system is in the middle of a transition that is significantly increasing the complexity of system operations. This change is driven by political, regulatory, environmental and technological background. Therefore System Operations needs to be prepared for the challenges ahead by influencing future regulation and relevant stakeholders, by contributing to national & international activities, identifying future needs for innovations, developing ingenious concepts and knowledge to ensure TenneT is prepared to also operate the future power system with the same level of reliability and security, as we have today!
In the department of System Operation Development you contribute directly to these challenges by identifying the future needs and taking initiative for necessary developments as well as contributing to the challenges of today. You promote innovation and propose improvements for system operations in close collaboration with many internal and external as well as national and international stakeholders.
Your contribution to TenneT
The increase in digitalization and in the number of inter-connected systems, the connection of small-scale units and advanced control systems not only brings huge advantages, it also requires a careful look on the cyber security and cyber resilience. You will contribute in identifying the risks and mitigate them.
You will work on a risk monitoring and risk assessment to achieve a future proof system operation regarding the cyber physical system and you advice system operation colleagues and the management
In this context you participate in national and international (mainly in ENTSO-E context) working groups to bring these important topic forward and to propose relevant policies
Beside the focus on cyber resilience you contribute to our program “Control Room of the Future” in developing decision support tools for our operators and work on a roadmap for the coming challenges
You will accompany research studies in the topics of focus

Your Profile and background
You successfully finished your academic studies in electrical/power system engineering or a comparable University degree (technical and or IT-technical background)
Multiple years of experience in working for a transmission system operator in the field of system operation is highly recommended, especially experience in connected systems and their potential influence on the electrical system are welcomed
Profound knowledge of processes in energy markets and system operation is highly beneficial
A positive attitude towards working in an international team with different nationalities is of importance, connection is key for you the succeed
You are open minded, like to work with engaged people, have a good sense of humour and you get your energy out of complex challenges and in finding innovative solutions
You have the ambition to learn and develop yourself and drive the energy transition together with your colleagues
Good verbal and writing skills in English are mandatory
