    Department Description:

    Tommy Hilfiger Menswear is a global business comprised of the Sportswear, Tailored & Sport Performance ranges as well as Special Project collections. The product is designed, sourced and produced through our Amsterdam Headquarters and is distributed in all Tommy Hilfiger retail and ecommerce channels globally, as well as Tier 1 and 2 department and specialty stores in all regions. (The only exception being Macy’s, North America.) The breakdown of production volume for EMEA versus Rest of World is 58% / 42%.

    Tommy Hilfiger Menswear division is one of the main business drivers within Tommy Hilfiger. Based in the Amsterdam European head office the Menswear team is split into 5 teams: Design, Merchandise, Product Development, Supply Chain and Business Operations. The 5 teams work together in an informal setting on creating superbly styled and high-end quality product.

    Tommy Hilfiger Men’s sportswear presents 4 times per year. Tommy Hilfiger Men’s Sportswear is recognizable as being Classic, American and Cool with its own twist.

    The Role

    Reporting into the Knits Design Director, the role will work across assisting the designers across sweaters and knit products. The candidate will float between these departments, lending support where needed. Giving the candidate a broad experience and set of skill sets, and every day will be different!

    Position Description and responsibilities:

    • Responsible for supporting design team across sweater and knit categories
    • Reports to the Director of Knits
    • Creative – working with the design team on concept and new ideas
    • Working closely with key stakeholders: Product development, merchandising teams
    • ‘Hands on’ and ‘can do’ mentality essential
    • Aware of range planning
    • Must be able to link fashion, design and creativity to commercial targets
    • Supports on design and works closely with the developer
    • Trend awareness
    • Hands on working with developers to realise product to a high standard
    • Respecting the divisional calendar
    • Preparing presentations
    • Travelling
    • Supports making presentations and collection overviews for the season to aid in the alignment of the collection.

    Requirements:

    • Degree at bachelor level – in Menswear fashion design.
    • Sweater specialism or a strong understanding of sweater fundamentals.
    • Minimum 1+ years related experience in (a) leading Men’s brand(s) and/or internship
    • Good knowledge of garment specifications, fitting and pattern making
    • Strong eye for detail
    • Strong computer skills (Illustrator/Photoshop) & hand drawn skills
    • Some experience in creating industry standard, digital tech packs.
    • Ability to translate trends into a commercial collection with a contemporary handwriting
    • Capable of working in a fast-paced and changeable environment
    • Fluent in English both written and verbal as English is the working language of the company
    • Open communicator and able to work with a number of personalities and nationalities
    • Willing to travel to Europe & Asia for supplier/vendor visits
    • Strong organization skills within the physical and digital studio environment.
