Task description The IPCC is very clear, greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced quickly. And there is an important role for industry in this, especially in the Netherlands. We therefore see an increasing demand for advice on decarbonisation of industry, often focused on their energy infrastructure.
To serve our customers better, we are looking for an intern who likes to improve our techno-economic calculation model. With this model we want to support our industrial partners in converting their natural gas supply to sustainable alternatives (e/H2/biogas boilers, heat pumps) by providing insights into the business cases for these sustainable technologies. The model will be checked by engineers within RHDHV and deployed in projects from our customers. With this internship you contribute to speeding up the energy transition.
During your internship you will get an insight into aspects play a part in the decarbonisation of industry. How a business case for energy supplies is established, but also which preconditions play a role in the selection for more sustainable alternatives. So, will you join us with your modelling skills to accelerate the energy transition in the industry?

Supervisor Bram Scheurwater is a sustainable energy consultant with a background in chemical engineering and an MSc. Sustainable Energy Technology at TU Delft. Due to his background in 'Sustainable Energy Technology', he has developed a huge interest in the energy transition and is involved in this within projects. His strength lies in understanding complex problems and translating them to both clients and colleagues. Within Royal HaskoningDHV he works in the Process & Energy advisory group within the Energy Systems centre of expertise. His focus is on feasibility studies for making the built environment and industry natural gas-free and the applicability of hydrogen and negative CO2 emissions concepts.
