HUB Organoid Technology represents a paradigm-shift that bridges the gap between the lab and the clinic and effectively brings “patients in the lab” for drug discovery and development, preclinical patient stratification, predictive biomarker discovery, personalized medicine, clinical trials, regenerative medicine, and companion diagnostics applications.
Your job in general
We are looking for a Data Scientist Bioinformatics who is motivated to use his/her knowledge and expertise to participate in our journey on the acceleration of drug discovery pipeline for our customers, applying our state-of-the art organoid (“patient in the lab”) technology.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of talented and enthusiastic scientists, business developers, and project managers in a dynamic scale-up company. Within our R&D team, you will setup, improve and make use of a computational platform for advancing the discovery of new medicines and characterisation of our Organoid biobank. This is an opportunity to work across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced start-up environment, dealing with a diverse array of biological data sets defining novel healthcare insights.
The Data Scientist Bioinformatics will process and analyse Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data to identify biomarkers for organoids response. In addition, he/she will assist in developing pipelines for reproducible and standardized tests for these biomarkers.
MS/PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics (including Biostatistics), Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or related fields
4+ years of experience in data science and machine learning in an academic or industrial environment
Biology background / experience with RNA/DNA data
Experience working with molecular data, disease modelling and biomarker discovery
Mastery of statistical methods, supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms
Excellent coding skills: Python, SQL, R is a plus
Visualization and exploratory analysis of very large datasets
Ability to setup automated data analysis pipelines and transfer these to others
Evaluation and implementation of new data analysis approaches, genomic technologies and improvement of existing procedures
Supporting optimization of current tests and translating existing signatures in different sources of data
Ability to turn the insights and conclusions from a variety of analyses into effective verbal and graphical communications, including to senior management and to our customers
Effective collaboration with our team of experts in systems biology, clinical domains, drug screening applications, and the ability to draw on scientific literature for guidance
Detail-oriented; Ability to pay close attention to details when analysing the data
Able to deliver with quality, within time and available budgets
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced scale-up environment
Experience in working in a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) is a plus
