Risk Management at Oikocredit
Risk Management supports CFRO, Investment Management and support areas in maintaining an effective risk governance and risk control environment within Oikocredit by providing the view on the bank’s risk profile and its strategic implications for the bank. Risk Management covers market, liquidity, investment (mainly credit next to some equity and environmental and social impact aspects) and operational risks.
Risk Management provides oversight over the investment risk profile of the bank and its investment risk control framework covering investment risk governance, risk appetite, identification of risks in a changing environment, regular (qualitative and quantitative) risk and return assessment and monitoring next to annual backtesting of credit risk models and additional risk metrics, scenario analysis and stress testing, review of the control framework and adherence to policies and procedures. Insights and conclusions are shared in Risk Reports provided to Risk Committees and Management Board.
Oikocredit is striving to further harmonize the way of working and enhancing integrated risk culture working closely with Investment Management to support this direction. The Credit Risk Analyst will interact with internal stakeholders to ensure Investment risk and return is well understood and controlled regionally, as well as that Investment Risk Management requirements are properly embedded in the regional risk control framework. In addition, building rapport with colleagues across all disciplines in the organisation is key to understand the impact of internal and external developments on Oikocredit’s risk profile and risk appetite.
About the job and specific responsibilities
The Credit Risk Analyst performs identification, assessment, monitoring and evaluation of risks in the Investment portfolio, in particular:
Perform general assessments, reviews or deep dives into specific investment risk topics;
Monitor development of the risk profile in the Investment portfolio, material risk drivers and control issues.
Contribute to scenario analysis and stress testing to evaluate resilience of Oikocredit under adverse conditions and define limits aligned to Oikocredit’s Risk Appetite;
Maintain (backtest and adjust) investment risk metrics and risk rating models;
Organize, process and analyze large data sets to produce clear, concise and meaningful risk reports for internal and external stakeholders;
Evaluate adequacy of data sources in context of risk management and ensure weaknesses identified are discussed at management level and scheduled for improvement;
Review Investment policies, procedures, risk indicators and metrics. Provide feedback, additional drafts or proposals for improvement to ensure adequate risk management;
Qualifications and experience
A Masters’ degree in in quantitative field or other relevant field of study; Preferably completed CFA, FRM, PRM or engaged in the process.
3- 5 years’ experience as investment or credit risk analyst in the financial services industry.
Knowledge of credit and equity risk drivers, metrics and control procedures;
Strong problem analysis and assessment skills.
Appropriately considering relevant details and risk drivers;
Data analyst skills, Advanced Excel (VBA). Basic knowledge of programming in R and Power BI is desirable but not required;
Ability to provide effective challenge to organization and explain complex topics in a structured and clear manner;
Proactive self-starter, able to handle a significant and diverse workload;
Team player, ability to collaborate across divisions, displaying organizational sensitivity;
Ability to work in multicultural environment, respecting diversity.
