    About the Role

We are seeking a Contracts Manager to join our Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Contracts & Wording team. The role requires experience in people management, leadership, experience in legal and general insurance matters. The role can be based in Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hoofddorp, Madrid, Milano or Paris but your work environment will be international. This role is situated within the Contracts & Wording department, reporting into the Global Head Contracts & Wording as part of the Chief Underwriting Officer´s Office.

Your main task as Contracts Manager EMEA is to lead a team of lawyers and experts across the EMEA region. The role will be responsible for reviewing and drafting insurance contract wordings and related documents in the EMEA market, with opportunities to support other global markets, as necessary.

In addition, you will work closely and collaboratively with local Legal & Compliance and participate in reviews of business divisions to ensure compliance with internal Contracts processes and rules as well as with applicable law. You will have the opportunity to contribute to various local and global projects, including in the areas of digitalization and contract governance.

    About the Team

We support Corporate Solutions' (re)insurance business (including international business), in the areas of property, casualty, and special lines of business such as director's and officer's liability, professional indemnity, energy, engineering and construction insurance. We work closely with our Underwriters, Client Managers and Product Experts and occasionally with external clients. Our mission is to provide legally sound yet pragmatic advice that enables high quality wording solutions for our clients. For that purpose, we openly share knowledge and engage closely with team colleagues as well as with other corporate functions, such as Legal, Compliance and Claims. In addition, we contribute to digital contract transformation and contract governance projects.

    About you

    • University degree(s) – preferably law

    • Experienced in leading a diverse team of experts

    • Proficiency in both written and spoken English (including legal and business terminology) and proficiency in Spanish

    • At least five years' experience in an Underwriting, Broking, Claims, or Legal/Compliance/Contracts role

    • Good knowledge and understanding of insurance products and relevant industry and market customs and practices

    You must also:

    • Be an open-minded self-starter who can efficiently and proactively handle many tasks at once, meeting deadlines under pressure, and working flexibly and independently

    • Have strong communication skills

    • Be a team-player with credibility and working style to build positive relationships, lead virtual teams and support an open feedback culture.

    • Be able to work effectively under time pressure, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and effectively handle competing priorities

    • Promote a strong sense of community and collaboration across countries and regions

    • Be a team player who enjoys working in closely-knit teams across EMEA and globally, collaborating with colleagues, being part of cross-functional teams and sometimes supporting internal clients in other jurisdictions and regions

    • Have the willingness to travel

    • Have an innovative, pragmatic and results-oriented 'growth' attitude; possess strong writing and analytical skills; be detail orientated; and possess strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and project management skills

We are an equal opportunity employer, and we value diversity at our company. Our aim is to live visible and invisible diversity – diversity of age, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, physical abilities, personalities, and experiences – at all levels and in all functions and regions. We also collaborate in a flexible working environment, providing you with a compelling degree of autonomy to decide how, when, and where to carry out your tasks.
