    Job Description
    General Summary:
    The Commercial Director Sales & Marketing is accountable for understanding the market landscape and Vertex's position within the market, leading business activities aligned with performance goals of the portfolio, and tracking performance against those goals. As a people manager, this role may have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff and teams.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Translates global strategy into local marketing plans, tactics and activities based on a deep understanding of the local business context and the brand life-cycle
    • Responsible for setting the KPIs and metrics that ensure the delivery of the locally adapted plans
    • Responsible for the promotional mix, including customer engagement through digital channels, external events, and use of interactive visual aids
    • Manages the marketing budget and 3rd party agencies responsible for delivering elements of the tactical plan
    • Generates and consolidates key insights by working closely with KAMs, Medical team and other internal and external stakeholders
    • Builds planning assumptions using locally generated data, data from Vertex analytic tools and appropriate analogues from other markets, diseases
    • Communicates frequently and effectively to across the brand team and with senior management and develops strong professional relationships with KOLs and Key Accounts
    • Provides input into forecasting and financial assumptions and is comfortable evaluating ROI for commercial activities
    • Develops strong partnerships across-functional team and critically, with Global Marketing and Global Commercial teams, to support attainment of business goals
    • As a people manager within the organization, this role may have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff
    • Ensures all marketing activities and initiatives are fully compliant to local laws and regulations and Vertex SOPs and standards
    Required Education, Skills and Experience:
    • Bachelor's or BSc degree in relevant discipline
    • Strong experience of pharmaceutical marketing, supported by other work experience in relevant commercial roles (e.g. Sales, Business Analytics, Market Research, Communications, Training, etc)
    • Deep knowledge of either the Netherlands or Belgium pharmaceutical markets
    • Experience working in Rare Disease or hospital specialist markets
    • Strong foundation in pharmaceutical sales and marketing and significant experience using digital communication channels to engage customers
    • Ability to provide strategic recommendations based on insights, data and assumptions using logical argument to convince stakeholders with diverse views on the merits of recommendation offered
    • Excellent project management and organization skills, comfortable in continuously prioritizing and re-prioritizing resources as the environment and local context changes
    • Habitually uses data and analytic tools to assess performance of the business
    • Advanced knowledge of market forecasts and relationship of business drivers to revenue
    • Solid people management experience
    • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications, including PPT, Excel and Word
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
