    Associate Director Operations

    We have an exciting new job opportunity at our location in Haarlem and are looking to hire an Associate Director Operations.

    Purpose of the position

    Enable production performance and quality of manufactured product through optimizing machine maintenance as well as strategic asset management and projects. You will report to the department’s operational director and act as deputy department lead. You are responsible for managing a team consisting of 3 direct reports: Technical Manager, Improvement Engineer and the Automation Engineer.

    Primary responsibilities

    • Contribute to the development of the department’s annual financial budget and investment plan.
    • As member of the management team, act as primary advisor to the operational director regarding mid- to long term strategic goals and implementation plans.
    • Manage the strategic project portfolio.
    • Develop & implement (direct or through team) continuous improvement activities
    • Ensure process standardization within the department across all shifts and define and align these standards in close collaboration with other departments within the Haarlem site.
    • Develop and implement maintenance practices that will ensure robust and predictable machine performance enabling the department to meet its output and quality targets.
    • Ensure compliance of all activities to relevant site procedures and standards.
    • Develop the technical support team and ensure they are competent to perform their duties - regarding both safety and quality.
    • Proactive management of compliance risks - executing on agreed plans.
    • Lead/ support Incident Investigations (safety, environment & quality) to ensure timely outcomes and implementation of associated corrective and preventative actions.
    • Contribute to the recruitment of new personnel as well as retainment of current MSD employees.
    • Drive the development and execution of training programs and the execution of all performance management activities.

    Your profile

    • BSc degree or MSc degree in engineering (or equivalent).
    • 5-10 years of maintenance or process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with high level of automation.
    • Minimum of 3-5-year personnel management experience in an operational environment
    • Led/ implemented strategic engineering projects
    • Experience in change management – led continuous improvement projects to equipment, work areas or processes
    • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English (written and spoken).
