Who you will work with
Our Antitrust practice advises our clients, who include some of the world's leading companies and investors, on the full range of merger control, cartel and abuse of dominance laws and related compliance, State aid, foreign direct investment and other regulatory risk compliance topics. Our Antitrust lawyers have a global outlook, coupled with experience of a variety of work in multiple jurisdictions, producing the quality of expertise required for major, complex and often high-stakes cross border work.
Our basis is in Amsterdam, but our practice and our client base have a strong international character. Our Antitrust lawyers often work closely with colleagues from, for example, our Brussels, London, Paris offices on multi-jurisdictional teams.
What you will be responsible for
Due to the continued growth and success of our Corporate group and the envisaged growth trajectory of the Antitrust practice within that, we are currently seeking a talented lawyer to join our Amsterdam office. As an associate in our Antitrust team, you will be working on some of the world's largest and most complex antitrust matters and provide a seamless integrated service across our network of offices and across different areas of expertise.
You will provide legal and commercial expertise predominantly on complex merger control, cartel and abuse of dominance laws and related compliance, State aid, foreign direct investment and other regulatory risk compliance topics, across a wide range of sectors including TMT, financial services, CG&R (commercial goods & retail), healthcare, industrials, and real estate.
You will be working as part of cross-border and multidisciplinary teams.
You will be developing relationships with clients and actively engaging in business development and thought leadership initiatives and seeking out opportunities for new work as you grow not only your legal but also entrepreneurial skill set.
You will be drafting complex legal documents clearly and concisely, creating solutions using legal knowledge and commercial judgement to advise and support leading multi-national clients.
Your career experience so far
You will have a solid background in antitrust work, probably gained at a firm with a highly regarded profile. We are looking for associates who are able to think outside the box to create bespoke solutions to meet our clients' business objectives. You will have had proven M&A experience of advising international clients on complex deals. You will be expected to demonstrate M&A experience and experience in organising and managing transactions.
In short you bring:
3-7 years of relevant work experience;
Intellectual curiosity and creative thinking;
Good communication and negotiation skills;
Fluency in English
It is crucial that you can demonstrate an appetite for business development, client relationship management and thought leadership.
A Dutch law qualification is preferred however not required.
