    Animal Outplacement Coordinator (32-36 hours per week)

    Animal Outplacement Coordinator

    32 – 36 hours per week

    The APL (Animal Planning & Logistics) team is looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and experienced colleague to strengthen their team. Are you passionate about coordination and offering animals a better future? Do you want to contribute to AAP’s goals by relocating our animals in zoological parks in Europe? Then this might be the job for you!

    Within the Rescue & Rehabilitation department, the APL team is responsible for the optimal flow of our animals, starting with their rescue and ending with their outplacement. Our team is in charge of rescuing, outplacing and organizing all the animal transports for both of our shelters located in the Netherlands (AAP Almere) and Spain (Villena Primadomus). You will be based in Almere.

    What are you going to do!

    • You will be responsible for relocating our animals in zoological parks in Europe.
    • You will maintain and build a worldwide network to relocate our animals (mainly zoos, wildlife parks and other rescue centers).
    • You will actively search for quality re-homing opportunities for those animals that are ready to leave AAP.
    • You are accountable and can keep track of all the projects you are responsible for.
    • You have experience in enclosure zoo design.
    • You find the monitoring of our animals outplaced extremely important and devote time and attention to keep good track of what is going on after relocation and you timely plan intervention if needed.
    • You are well organized, can keep a good overview of complex situations and proactively take action when necessary.
    • You regularly update the policies, protocols and work instructions related to the animal relocation work.
    • You ensure that all the different stakeholders (internal and external) involved in the execution of an outplacement project are adequately and timely informed.
    • You can provide the best service to our clients without compromising the interests of our organization.
    • You manage a considerable budget and the invoicing therefore first passes through your hands before payments are made.
    • The coordinators Rescue and Logistics are your direct colleagues and you work together to obtain the best results.
    • You will be supported in your work by three officers, whom you will manage.

    • Your salary will be between € 2.544 and € 3.252 gross per month (based on 36 hours per week) dependent on relevant work experience, with room for growth within the function.
    • In addition to the 8% holiday allowance, we pay a variable year-end bonus of a maximum of 8.33% of your annual gross salary.
    • 24 Vacation days per year on a full time basis.
    • A good and sustainable pension arrangement.

    What do you bring?

    • Coordinating is your passion and you have fun doing it.
    • Minimum higher professional education (HBO – NLQF6/EQF6: bachelor degree) work and thinking level.
    • Education in zoology and demonstrable knowledge in this area.
    • Experience in project management.
    • Knowledge of the work and objectives of rescue centers and zoos.
    • Knowledge handling tactful actions with sufficient strategic insight.
    • Excellent social and communication skills.
    • Able to promote the interests of our organization and the animals.
    • Experience working in an international environment and with an international network.
    • Knowledge of the permits and licenses needed for the running of zoos and rescue centers (including animal transports) is an advantage.
    • Affinity with and/or knowledge of general marketing and acquisition techniques is an advantage.
    • At times of great pressure you are able to switch gears well, change plans and make ad-hoc decisions and set priorities. It is all a challenge for you!
    • Good verbal and written communication in both English and Dutch, and knowledge of at least one other language (preferably Spanish or German).
    • Driving license B.
    • Willing to travel abroad, regularly.
    • Competencies: Planning and organizing, customer focus, external awareness and flexibility.
