Analyst Food & Agriculture Supply Chains

    Imagine…

That you are working in our global team of highly driven experts focussing on packaging & logistics sectors and industry trends. And then imagine that you are using your ever-deepening expertise and insight to initiate strategic discussions within Rabobank, with clients at board level, and with other critical stakeholders. Imagine your potential impact. For example the positive impact on Rabobank’s reputation, or from supporting the development of new and bespoke client solutions.

Rabobank’s global mission is ‘Banking for Food’. This translates into providing financing solutions globally across the entire food supply chain; from farm inputs to beverage companies, retailers, and logistics providers. Research is essential to continue to build our strong frontrunner position and reputation and to live up to our mission as leaders in Food & Agribusiness (F&A) financing. Our RaboResearch F&A packaging & logistics team covers research in the food packaging & logistics sectors across the globe. The specialist in this position will focus predominantly on the European food plastics, food metal and food glass market. Yet, being part of the global F&A team implies that you will actively participate in global (cross sectoral) projects with a broad range of different stakeholders. You will be involved in a variety of research projects with the aim of generating insights that make a difference. Tasks include gathering information and data, analyzing markets and companies, preparing presentations and reports and leading strategic discussions with clients and internal stakeholders. The packaging and logistics sectors are critical pieces of the F&A value chain. In this particular role, the specialist will focus on digging deep in a number of sub-sectors (plastics, metal and glass) and cover themes that are relevant to Rabobank’s clients.

The team’s combined forces directly contribute to making a difference for Rabobank and our clients by tackling a broad range of complex strategic questions. For example :

    • Which key strategic drivers will affect packaging companies decision-making in the next five years?
    • What is the impact of sustainability ambitions of major food brands or regulatory policies (f.e. European Greendeal) on packaging companies ?

The team provides answers to these and many other challenging questions as part of the global RaboResearch department.

As a Specialist F&A Packaging you take the lead in providing inspiring insights and innovative ideas. You will use your existing network, attend conferences, participate in relevant working groups, speak with companies and authorities to share and deepen your knowledge base, and use both public and proprietary data sources to do innovative analysis. And when applicable you will help the RaboResearch Data Science team with provoking ideas to automate data sources. Your expertise, creativity and analytical skills will be used to share thought-provoking research within Rabobank, with clients, and with other relevant stakeholders like Rabobank Risk departments, external media or government.

    Making a difference

    • You are creative with information and data to generate unique sector insights. You can handle very complex research for the Global F&A sectors. Perform custom research for internal top clients. You have proven to be an expert on one or more packaging sectors (Plastics, Metal or glass), deep understanding of cross- sector and trans-regional linkages.
    • You inspire and collaborate with the Global Consumer Foods Packaging and logistics team and other RaboResearch F&A sectors/teams by using the available knowledge (strategy) base at Rabobank to create your own market, industry, and company expertise, and translate this into different products like publications, presentations, webinars, or podcasts for Rabobank and its clients. You take ownership of your own research process from conceptualization to delivery of final product.
    • You present to and lead discussions with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. You are capable of engaging with CEOs and Senior Executives and being able to have discussions on the company’s strategy.
    • You co-operate with and support internal stakeholders from across Rabobank, ranging from risk management to product specialists and Rural & Wholesale banking.
    • You develop and maintain information resources relating to focus sectors in Europe & Africa
