Algorithmic Accountability Area Manager, Digital Ethics and Responsibility AI Team, IKEA Digital
WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for a people centric leader with deep theoretical and practical experiences in developing, scaling and deploying advanced AI algorithms and software systems. You will manage a diverse team of data scientists, researchers, and engineers that will collaborate with key internal players to develop and scale algorithmic accountability solutions applied to Ingka business domains and value-chains. These algorithmic accountability solutions will involve among others key components in terms of robustness, value-by-design, and auditability. To be successful in this role we believe that you have around 10 years of experience participating and leading innovative industrial research programs.

PhD in relevant topics such as applied mathematics, computer science with specialization in artificial intelligence, optimization, or machine learning.
Minimum 3 years of experience working on applied digital, data and AI governance& ethics in the private or public sector.
Strong record of professional accomplishment and leadership.
Recognized ability to communicate vision and results.
High profile academic record in relevant fields (strong publication track in artificial intelligence).
Demonstrated expertise transferring cutting edge scientific knowledge and research prototypes into industrial value chains.
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience in developing software products with high level of AI integration and automation.
Strong understanding of advanced formalisms, Mathematical Programming, Constrained Optimization, Machine Learning / Deep & Reinforcement Learning, Federated learning techniques.
Strong understanding and some experience of new algorithmic accountability frameworks, tools and modules (e.g. fairness assessment, conformity assessment, and robustness assessment)
Ability to review and comment on scientific research and the production of state-of-the-art code.
Good understanding of AI ethics & governance topics, ecosystem, dynamics, main trends and actors.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent management (team, projects, and programs) and collaboration skills
Leadership ability to inspire, mentor and motivate team and key players
Sincere interest in operationalizing ethics of artificial intelligence.

Your role is to build, lead, inspire and motivate a diverse team of data scientists, researchers, and engineers.
Together you will develop and raise awareness internally around an original vision for algorithmic accountability and its key contribution to the viability of responsible AI models, and related software products.
Some other key activities included in the role:
Develop and implement, in collaboration with key internal players, a strategy & roadmap on algorithmic accountability including, among others, key components in terms of robustness, value-by-design, and auditability.
Lead a team of researchers and engineers in exploratory research, development, and prototyping of novel models and cutting-edge responsible AI solutions.
Develop, test and scale across the company algorithmic auditability and robustness frameworks, protocols, and metrics
Develop, test, and scale across the company conformity assessment (self-assessments and third party assessments) frameworks, protocols, and metrics
Develop, test, and scale value-by-design frameworks, protocols, and metrics to align our algorithms with our company values and with digital ethics principals
Collaborate with product and development teams to deliver commercially viable and scalable ML models through ML-Ops approaches.
Produce open-source code implementing and operationalizing ethical principles and disseminate it in different research community. Organize and be part of algorithm competitions, conferences, workshops, special issues, etc.
Identify, assess, and manage AI risks –and related company exposure- in close cooperation with key internal players.
Structure and improve responsible AI and data science processes and standards in place.
Share and co-design methodologies within Ingka through workshops, training and tools
Build and make available “Responsible-AI-as-a-service” libraries.
